Choir Sing at St Anne’s Cathedral

7th Dec 2018

Yesterday evening, Thursday 6th December 2018, at 7pm, our choir and recorder group took part in the Action Cancer annual Sound of Action schools concert, in the stunning setting of St. Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast.

Sound of Action, which was hosted by Q Radio presenter Ibe Sesay, included performances from a mixture of ensembles - including choirs, bands and talented young soloists from a number of schools across Northern Ireland all renowned for their musical talents!

Schools and soloists performing included:
Carrickfergus Grammar School, Wellington College Belfast, Dunmurry Primary School, Saintfield Highschool, St. Mary's Grammar School, Magherafelt, Castle Gardens Primary School, Newtownards, Woodlawn Primary School, Bonnie Latewood from Wallace High School, and Emma Quigley.

All money raised helped fund Counselling and Complementary Therapy services for children affected by cancer from the age of 5 plus.

The children were a credit to the school and sang beautifully. Thank-you to all who supported this event in particular Mrs Saunderson and Mrs McDowell for their efforts to prepare the children and classroom assistants Mrs Dodd, Mrs McCulloch and Mrs McKenzie.

A massive thank-you must go to McDonalds in Dundonald as well. It was our intention to provide transport and food for the children to ensure any money parents were asked to contribute could go directly to Action Cancer. Hearing our intention, Mr Clarke the manager of the the Dundonald restaurant donated the meals for the children and staff and even arranged for delivery.
This was a wonderful gesture and greatly appreciated by all at the children and is yet another example what a fantastic local community we live in.
