Ni Primary School Cross Country Report

11th Oct 2017

On Tuesday morning two cross county teams representing Castle Gardens took Part in Round 1 of the Flavahans NI Primary Schools Championships in Downpatrick.

The girls team, made up of several P5 pupils, was led home by Zara Irvine in 56th place out of 144 runners in a time of 4 minutes 50 seconds and she was closely followed by Amelia McGowan.

In the boys race Toby Saunders was our first pupil to complete the 1650m course, finishing in 33rd position with a time of 4 minutes 10 seconds.

Both teams competed fantastically well on a very muddy and challenging course. The girls finished 16th out of 19 schools and the boys 11th out of 20 schools. Well done everybody!

Thanks to Mrs Turtle for taking the pupils and for organising our participation. Thanks also to the parents that transported pupils and also to those that came along to support the children. A final word of thanks to Scrabo Hall for the use of their minibus.
