Bug-Hunting
As part of our topic on Minibeasts, Primary 1 children went looking for creatures. We had to search under logs, rocks and in the grass to find minibeasts to bring back to our classroom. At the beginning it was difficult to find any as it was a bright sunny day. As we poked and prodded with sticks, a number of little animals revealed themselves - much to the delight of the children. We found ants, worms and even a rather bad-tempered beetle who kept trying to escape.
Back in the classroom, we armed ourselves with magnifying glasses and watched the minibeasts carefully, talking about what they look like and how they move. The children noticed that some of the creatures were trying to eat each other so we had to rehome them!
It was a great morning and we learned so much!
