Car Parking

9th Feb 2017

Once again I feel the need to draw your attention to parking in the school grounds. This week there have been incidents that included cars being abandoned which have obstructed school buses, people driving the wrong way round roundabouts, drivers refusing to move when asked by staff and vehicles reversing around the drop off zone.

To be perfectly honest, the laws of the road apply within our schools grounds the same way they do outside the gates. If these laws are not respected by drivers within the school grounds and therefore putting other users and our children at risk, we will have to consider closing the gates at drop off and collection times. This is something that I do not want to do.

Can I please remind you all of the following procedures that apply within our grounds and ask that you make anybody that collects your children aware of them:

  • Do not abandon cars around the roundabout when collecting or dropping off children. Please use the car park or road outside the gates if you wish to leave your car.
  • Be respectful to our staff if they ask you to move. There will be a reason for this request.
  • Never drop off children or allow them to leave the car before the first crossing or while your car is moving.
  • If the drop off zone is free please move round as far as you can to allow cars behind you to drop off as well. This avoids the need to reverse and manoeuvre around a car that pulls in front of you.
  • There are two disabled parking spots in the parents car park. Please ensure that these are only used if you have a blue badge.

It is very convenient to have this superb parking facility within our grounds but please remember that safety is more important that convenience.
