May Newsletter

29th Apr 2019

A newsletter was sent home today with all pupils, below are the key bits of information.

Elections

School will be closed this Thursday 2nd May as we are a polling station in the local council elections. We will also be closed on Thursday 23rd May to facilitate the European Union elections.

Staff Development Days

School will be closed on Friday 24th May and Tuesday 28th May for staff development days. School will also be closed for the Bank Holiday on Monday 27th May.

Golf Outing

We will be holding a golf outing on the afternoon of Friday 24th May at Scrabo Golf Club.

All friends and family members are invited to come along and participate in this fundraising event. Price is expected to be £35 per head and includes a bacon roll before your round and a one course meal after your round.

We are also seeking sponsors for each hole priced at £50. Your company will be advertised at the particular hole as well as in our social media posts relating to the event.

This promises to be a great afternoon which will bring together members of our school community that don't normally have the chance to take part in a school event. Please see the accompanying note for further info and to sign up.

School Fundraiser – Run a Marathon in May

This year our annual school fundraiser will be held on Wednesday 22nd May due to EU elections being confirmed on 23rd May. We are challenging the children to run a marathon in May during the daily mile (maybe not quite that far for the younger pupils!)

Many of our staff have committed to this fundraising effort and we have three relay teams entered into the Belfast marathon this Sunday, 5th May.

Sports Day

Sports Day will be held on Friday 7th June (weather permitting). Parents and guardians are of course welcome to attend. Details to be sent home closer to the time.

Reports

A new format of annual report will be sent home on Friday 14th June.

P1 Welcome Afternoon

New P1 pupils will be visiting school on the afternoon of Tuesday 4th June and Wednesday 5th June. P1 and P2 pupils will finish that day at 1pm with dinners being provided as normal. Pupils in the social communication class and speech classes will finish at normal times.

Leavers Assembly

P7 will have their Leavers Assembly on Wednesday 26th June at 1.30pm.

All classes will finish by 1pm with staggered times to ease congestion, exact times to be communicated nearer the time.

Parking in School Grounds

Any parents or guardians wishing to use the school grounds or indeed surrounding roads should do so carefully and only park in appropriate areas.
