Today we can reveal the new school badge that was selected by the Governors at their meeting just before Easter from over 150 entries. The winning design that you can see was drawn by Alan in P4 and today he received his prize in assembly.
This new badge will be introduced from the start of the new school year and celebrates the 150th year since the first child started at Castle Gardens. The badge at the top of this page will be used on our headed paper, website, social media etc with single coloured badges embroidered on items of clothing.
I know there will be a number of questions that you will have regarding the current badge and uniform that I hopefully answer below.
Can we still wear uniform with the current badge?
Yes. The current badge that we have had since relocating from the Portaferry Road in 2001 will of course be welcome on the uniform that the children wear in the new school year. Some of the local suppliers will be offering this at a reduced price over the coming months to sell through exiting stocks.
Do the children have to wear a shirt and tie?
No. This is a frequent question. Children in P1 and P2 should wear the polo shirt and sweatshirt every day. Children in P3 to P7 can wear either the polo shirt and sweatshirt or the shirt and tie “choir” uniform. Both styles of uniforms have been in place for many years in Castle Gardens. It is parental preference regarding what uniform they wish their children to wear and what their children prefer to wear. The only time we request the shirt and tie uniform to be worn will be for pupils that participate in special events such as choir or Open Night for example.
Where can I buy uniform with the new badge?
Uniform with the new badge can be bought from a number of outlets: Signature Works online store which includes delivery, Signature works new uniform store in Bangor, School Days in Ards. 10% of all purchases from the Signature Works online store will be returned to Castle Gardens. The online store is in the process of being built so will go live in the coming weeks.
Can I see samples of the new uniform?
Yes. We will have samples available in school the reception next week for you to look at.
What items are for sale?
We have all the same items were previously available – sweatshirts, polo shirts, book bags, hats and coats. In addition, other items that include a PE bag, shirts, trousers and a variety of dresses can also be purchased online if you wish. We have also updated our PE uniform but this is not compulsory to purchase.
