P4 Ice Experiment
Why don't the passengers on the Titanic swim to safety? That is a question the P4 pupils ask every year during our Titanic topic. What better way to explain this answer than to carry out an experiment with a miniature iceberg! The children placed their hands in the freezing water for up to one minute. Then they tried to build with Lego. The pupils soon realised their hands didn't work so well! We discussed how freezing water restricts blood flow which affects the brain. We also looked at how more of the iceberg is under the water than we can see above. This was a fun way of learning all about the effects of freezing water on the body. Well done to all our pupils for taking part.
