P4 Ice Experiment
To support their learning of the Titanic the P4 children worked with ice this week. By pouring water into containers the children learnt that water, when frozen, takes on the shape of its container and that water expands as it freezes. To FEEL what it was like for some Titanic passengers who ended up in the freezing cold water the pupils placed their hands in freezing water for one minute. They then timed themselves building a Lego model. We quickly realised our fingers didn't work so well!! The following day the children re-timed themselves building the same Lego model and since our hands weren't freezing this time we were much quicker! A lot of practical learning this week and many discussions on the effects of freezing water on our body. Well done P4 - great enthusiasm for learning this week :)
