This week's newsletter is now online. Good morning I'm presenting at a conference this afternoon in Antrim so the newsletter is a bit earlier this week, so early in fact most of the news hasn't been added yet. I'll share again on Monday but in the mean time, have a great weekend. https://sway.cloud.microsoft/mmJiZ66SIWauIGkq?ref=Link

P5A meet Takabuti

5th Feb 2020

On Tuesday 4th February, P5 went to the Ulster Museum in Belfast. We set off bright and breezy looking forward to the day ahead. When we got there we took part in a history workshop all about Ancient Egypt. A lady from the museum taught us about where is Egypt is, what life was like back then and how they made a mummy. It was disgusting – P5 loved it! She let us see and touch all the replicas of artefacts from thousands of years ago eg. a pillow, a comb, make up, canopic jars, shabti figures, amulets and linen bandages.

After the workshop we went to visit the Egyptian section of the museum. We got to see a real Egyptian mummy – Takabuti. It was amazing! We also got to watch videos, read about life in Ancient Egypt and see lots of artefacts.

We had our lunch and then went to explore Botanic Gardens. The children loved playing on the grass and the mysterious adventure through the tropical greenhouse. P5 also had the opportunity to visit the gift shop. It took a while but we finally got through all 32 pupils! P5 bought Pharaoh pens, Egyptian books, hieroglyphic puzzles, toys, games, stickers and of course, sweets! We got the coach home and arrived back to school at 2:45pm. Everyone had a great day and also learnt lots about Ancient Egypt – A huge success!
