P6 STEM Day

12th Oct 2022

We were delighted to be joined today (Wednesday 12th October 2022) by Margaret from Sentinus for a STEM 'Flight' workshop. Children will learn about flight later in the year but, as we draw towards the close of our first WAU topic (Ourselves), this was a fantastic interactive introductory session in which pupils worked in peer groups completing a number of test activities.

As part of the session children made a helicopter, a paper aeroplane,  a kite and also rockets which were launched in our playground. Children learned briefly about the early history of flight and also how some seeds (e.g. sycamores) use 'flight' to transport their seeds away from the parent plant. Children from P6G also were fortunate enough to enjoy a fun maths games session in the afternoon.

Our thanks are extended to Sentinus for providing a fantastically engaging session and to Miss Lowry who helped arrange the session for us.
