SEAG Outcomes 2025

31st Jan 2025

As you will know our Year 7 pupils received their results last Saturday. I know amongst celebration there will be some disappointments and I hope the school has been a good support in the subsequent days and through until post-primary applications close on 20th February.

I have been asked by parents each morning how the children got on and I wanted to share that information with you all.

The SEAG results group pupils into 6 bands. Band 1 is the top 40% of pupils who have sat the assessments.

In Castle Gardens, I am delighted that we have 38% of pupils are in Band 1.

This year for the children in Castle Gardens who sat the assessments, the average score was 198 with 57% of our pupils scoring in Bands 1-4. The first four bands are the scores that would automatically lead to placement into grammar schools.

These results demonstrate a consistency of high standards across the years and I have to commend our wonderful pupils, and of course the staff  for their time and investment in the children’s educational journey. In particular the efforts of Mr Graham and Mrs Wilson need special mention, supporting the SEAG pupils through the last 12 months.

I believe, and as ETI endorsed earlier this academic year, that the heart of this school is high quality teaching and learning in supportive, pastoral classrooms.

This week I have met with many P7 parents at their transfer interviews. The experiences you share and the warmth with which you talk about our school gives me immense satisfaction and pride in the efforts of all our staff and pupils.

Thank you to all parents, pupils and staff for the role you have played in these wonderful outcomes.
