Sports Day - Update

Update

Sports Day will go ahead today outdoors and parents are welcome to attend. Parents planning to attend should make their way down the right hand side of the canteen to the grass at the rear of the building.

Sports Day Times

9.30am - 10.30am

P1 & P2 pupils including P2 pupils in Mrs Saunderson's class, P1 and P2 speech pupils & P2 pupils in Social Communication class.

11am - 12pm

P3 & P4 pupils including P3 pupils in Miss Davidson's speech class, P3 pupils in Mrs Saunderson's class, P4 pupils in Miss Martin's class and P3 &P4 pupils in Social Communication class.

1.30pm - 2.30pm

P5, P6 and P7 pupils including P5 pupils in Miss Martin's class.

Sports Day is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) with times listed below. The weather has obviously been very poor all week and the ground is very soft.

Had Sports Day been scheduled for today it would have been cancelled this morning due to the risk posed to our children who need to turn hop, bounce and sprint on a slippery surface.

We obviously don’t want to cancel Sports Day at this stage and will continue to monitor the forecast and underfoot conditions throughout the day but at the minute it is looking unlikely that we will be able to go ahead tomorrow as planned.

If we do have to cancel tomorrow, Sports Day will be held indoors and parents will unfortunately not be able to attend.

Next week there are numerous trips, visits from post-primary schools, assemblies and rehearsals planned that mean a reschedule and indoor preparation would not be possible. Even if we did postpone to next week the weather may still be a factor. Pupils should wear their sports gear to school tomorrow as they will be taking part either way.

We appreciate that many of you have scheduled leave or rearranged plans in order to attend tomorrow and this is the only reason why we haven’t made the call already to cancel. We will give Sports Day every chance to go ahead but not if it means risk to any of our pupils.
